Dear Ted Maurer,

Thank you for calling me after the auction of Alan’s toy train collection. I was amazed at the amount of profit. As you probably know, I had mixed feelings about Alan’s collection, especially when it started to take over the whole house. I guess my feelings are not so mixed about the proceeds.

Alan certainly did enjoy those years of collecting. His involvement in toy train collecting brought him great pleasure. I can’t argue with that. He enjoyed your friendship and he knew that you would take care of his collection, when the time came … And so you did!
